About Ruth

After spending sixteen years as a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom, Ruth realized that it was time to get a life of her own. When her children were small, she graduated from the Institute of Children’s Literature, always telling herself that she would have more time for writing when the kids got older. They have. And she does.

Her first love has always been writing emotionally-charged stories for young adults. She also writes for adults on parenting, homeschooling, family issues, and writing.

She lives with her husband, two daughters, one sweet dog, and one overly energetic Portuguese Podengo, who she hopes will calm down eventually.

More about me:

Things that make me happy:

  • Knowing Jesus loves me (He loves you too!)

  • Hanging out with my family

  • That magical moment when a story takes on a life of its own

  • Chocolate

  • Sunny days

  • Old books

Things that stress me out:

  • Writers block

  • Traffic

  • That moment, every afternoon, when I'm tired and hungry and realize that I have no idea what to make for dinner.

Things that make me cranky:

  • Cleaning house when I’d rather be writing

  • Form rejections

  • Getting up early

Current obsessions:

  • Reading YA contemporary

  • Blogging

  • Starburst jellybeans

Songs that make me hit repeat every time they come around on my ipod:

  • All I Ever Wanted by The Airborne Toxic Event

  • Even if it Breaks Your Heart by The Eli Young Band

  • Take a Back Road by Rodney Atkins
